With the EU grant exceeding 380,000 Euros, provided through the EU PRO Plus programme, the facility underwent comprehensive reconstruction. Renovations included a new roof, replacement of the carpentry, utility systems and thermal insulations. Every room is now equipped with private bathrooms, access for persons with disabilities is ensured, complemented by the installation of solar collectors, ensuring sustainability and comfort.
In addition to its role as a recreational centre, Lipovac represents a significant tourism potential for the Municipality of Aleksinac, which invested over 236,000 Euros in the project. Surrounded by preserved natural landscapes, forests, and mountain trails, the site is ideal for nature lovers, athletes, and recreational visitors, as well as for hosting art colonies. A via ferrata route located nearby further enriches the offer for adventure and active tourism, while visitors interested in cultural and spiritual heritage can also visit the nearby Monastery of Saint Stephen.
As a space that simultaneously educates, inspires, and connects people with nature, Lipovac has the potential to become a recognisable meeting point for knowledge, recreation, and sustainable local development.
The initiative in Aleksinac is part of a broader effort of the EU PRO Plus Programme, which supports 20 economic infrastructure projects across Šumadija and Western Serbia, Southern and Eastern Serbia with over five million Euros. These projects are designed to boost local competitiveness by enhancing business conditions and attracting new investments, covering the construction and reconstruction of industrial and tourist zones, and preparing technical documentation for economic infrastructure development.
