Second semester in warmer classrooms at "Gornja Jablanica" Primary School in Medveđa with the support of the European Union

Along with better conditions for learning and extracurricular work, warm classrooms and a better look of the school, the energy efficiency of the building has been improved by 30 percent, which will contribute to the reduction of energy consumption and savings in the local budget.

The Primary School "Gornja Jablanica" was founded in 1888, and the building that is now renovated has existed since 1979, since no major investments have been done in the school building. Now, with the support of the EU and the municipality, which participated in the project with over 27,000 Euros, the school provides adequate conditions for learning and the work of teachers. This is the central school facility in the municipality of Medveđa, which is attended by the majority of children, and which also hosts the classes of the Music School "Stanislav Binički" from Leskovac, and pupils of the special department of the School for Primary and Secondary Education "11 October from Leskovac".

The project in Medveđa is one of 39 local infrastructure projects in the regions of Šumadija and Western Serbia and Southern and Eastern Serbia that the EU supports through the EU PRO Plus programme with over six million Euros in order to improve the quality of life of people through the  renovation and reconstruction of educational, health and social care institutions, sports and cultural facilities, and improvement of communal infrastructure and public administration buildings.
